Bikepacking

Like Backpacking, but on a Bike!

I'm a big fan of cycling, but on trails, not roads. I enjoy single, double, and hiking paths, and the further off the grid I can go the better.

Check out the bikes I ride.

Recent Trip: The Camino Portugese via Bike

I've ridden several long-ish trips, from overnighters to multi-day. One of my favorites is the Oregon Outback, a 364-mile route that climbs up the Eastern spine of Oregon from Klamath Falls to the Columbia river.  I've done it twice, and I'll likely do it again.  The scenery is beautiful and the silence gives one a lot of time to think.

Here's a link to the OO60 (Oregon Outback 60 Challenge) I built after completing the route. I used this site as a demo for a MadWorld conference presentation. It was fun to introduce the audience to something that was unfamiliar to many but very close to my heart.

Here's a link to an article I wrote about cycling the same loop during the pandemic. (PDF download)
